Spotlight search
Spotlight search lets you find anything in your workspace without leaving the page you're on. Press Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows to open it.
Basic search
Start typing and results appear instantly. Spotlight searches across tasks, projects, contacts, companies, files, invoices, proposals, contracts, events, notes, wiki pages, forms, form responses, conversations, comments, time entries, transactions, schedulers, subscriptions, and scheduler bookings.
Results are grouped by type. Use the Arrow Up and Arrow Down keys to move between results, then press Enter to open the selected item. Press Esc to close spotlight.
Search modes
Spotlight has three prefix modes that change what it searches:
| Prefix | Mode | What it does |
|---|---|---|
@ | People | Restricts search to contacts and companies only. |
# | Type filter | Shows a list of types to pick from. After you pick one (e.g., tasks), spotlight only searches that type. |
> | Commands | Opens the command palette so you can run actions directly. |
When you're in a type-filtered search (after picking a type with #), press Backspace on an empty search field to clear the filter and return to searching everything.
Commands
Type > to see the full list of commands. Commands let you take actions without navigating to a page first:
- Create - create a task, project, invoice, proposal, contract, contact, company, event, form, conversation, time entry, scheduler, or automation.
- Navigate - jump to Tasks, Projects, Inbox, Calendar, Files, Wiki, Contacts, Timesheets, Invoices, Proposals, Contracts, Forms, Activities, Automations, Templates, Archive, Trash, or Scheduler.
- Settings - go to General settings or Account settings.
Which commands you see depends on your permissions and which features are enabled.
Ask PAL
When you search for something and Plutio Pal is enabled, an Ask PAL option appears at the top of the results. Selecting it opens the Pal side panel with your search query pre-filled, so Pal can answer your question or take action on your behalf.
