Big decisions get expensive fast, so the work needs a plan everyone can point to before orders get placed and trades start fitting. This project proposal gives a client one clear route from the overview through the deliverables and price, so approval doesn’t hinge on half-shared notes and crossed wires. The pages sit under Raleway headings with madder-rose and a blue‑green accent, which keeps the tone measured while the client reads the numbers and the next step.

The proposal opens with Overview, then introduces Who you are working with and proof sections for Recent projects and Portfolio. The middle of the document names the actual outputs, including Measured existing floor plan and Furniture and lighting specification list, so the client sees what gets delivered before they reach What it costs. Next steps and the later terms cover what “complete” means, what happens when scope changes, how client inputs affect the work, and where responsibility sits when measurements come from supplied plans... so the client can agree without guessing what happens in the grey areas.

  • Overview Frames the outcome and the route to a finished plan, so the scope reads like a decision path instead of a pitch.
  • Measured existing floor plan Describes the base survey and the layout work it supports, which you tailor to match what you actually deliver.
  • What it costs Prices Core Plan as the required selection, leaving you to replace the template price with your own.
  • Next steps Holds the acceptance flow plus a signature and fee summary, with the booking deposit timing spelled out.
  • Payment States the deposit and final balance timing, invoice due dates, and what counts as complete before handover closes out the job.

We went from spending hours on every proposal to creating fully customized ones in under 5 minutes. That's not an exaggeration - we timed it.

What to include in a project proposal

PartWhat it covers

Overview

Opens with the outcome being priced and the route from survey to options to final plan, so the client knows what the proposal is offering before any terms.

Who you are working with

Introduces the service provider in plain terms, which you rewrite so the proposal matches your own practice and how you work.

Recent projects

Gives a short lead-in to past work examples, so the client has context for what “a full plan” looks like in practice.

Portfolio

Describes example project types and the decisions those plans supported, which you swap for your own work and outcomes.

Measured existing floor plan

Explains the measured plan as the base for layout decisions and calls out the concept direction and space planning work the client receives.

Furniture and lighting specification list

Names the room-by-room specification and the kitchen, bath, and finishes schedules, so ordering and trade pricing has a written reference.

What it costs

Holds a priced item table for Core Plan, which you update with your fee so the client selects the package being agreed.

Next steps

Covers what happens after acceptance and carries the signature and fee summary, including the deposit timing and what you need scheduled to begin.

Payment

Spells out the deposit and balance split, invoice due window, completion definition, and how out-of-scope work gets approved before billing.

Site access and dimensions

Sets expectations on measuring, revisions, trade coordination limits, and responsibility when drawings rely on client-supplied dimensions.

Who it is for

Interior designers, residential design studios, and styling & staging services quoting a defined package of design deliverables and terms for a client to approve.

The proposal in full

Overview

You’ll have a home plan you can trust when you’re ordering: rooms that work together, furniture that fits the actual clearances, and finishes and lighting chosen to suit the way the light moves through the day.

I’ll turn that into a full home design plan you can hand to trades and price before you order anything. You’ll make the big calls with drawings and lists in front of you. If you’d like to go ahead, the next step is to sign and book the survey.

I start by measuring what’s there and drawing it properly, so every decision is made against the real walls and openings. Then I lay out a small set of clear options for how the rooms can work, and I help you choose one direction. After that I lock in finishes, lighting, and joinery details at the level a carpenter and electrician can price without guessing.

Who you are working with

I’m Clara Reynaud, an interior designer, and I run Rue des Lices Interiors as a one-person practice. I do measured, buildable design work for lived-in homes, where the layout, the light, and the everyday routines matter more than a showpiece photo. Most of my projects start at the same moment: before joinery, tiles, and big furniture orders lock decisions in.

paragraphs

Recent projects

Here are a few recent projects where a full plan made the build and the buying decisions feel settled.

Portfolio

Townhouse re-plan and spec. I reworked the ground-floor flow and set furniture sizes before any orders. The client priced the joinery from my drawings, then bought the key pieces once circulation and door swings were proven on plan.

Kitchen and bath layouts. I drew two layout routes for each room and tested them against appliance sizes and daily use. Once one direction was chosen, I issued layouts ready for quoting, with fixture positions that matched the lighting plan.

Lighting and finishes schedule. I built a lighting plan and a finishes schedule that tied wall colours, stone, and metal tones together. The client could order samples with a shortlist, instead of circling through dozens of near-matches.

“Every purchase felt decided before we spent, and nothing arrived “almost right”.”

Homeowner, renovating a main residence

Measured existing floor plan

A drawn plan based on my on-site measurements and photos. This is the base for every layout decision, and it stops small site surprises becoming expensive changes later.

CONCEPT BOARD AND DIRECTION

A single visual direction for the home, with a tight set of references for colour, materials, and overall feel. This gives you one path to buy against, instead of a folder of mixed ideas.

SPACE PLAN AND FURNITURE LAYOUT

A furniture plan that tests sizes, clearances, and how you move through each room. I’ll mark key dimensions so you can buy the sofa, table, and rugs at the right scale.

Furniture and lighting specification list

A room-by-room list with exact items, sizes, finishes, and quantities. You’ll have what you need to place orders and compare alternatives without losing the thread of the scheme.

KITCHEN AND BATHROOM LAYOUT DRAWINGS

Layout drawings that show fixture positions, key dimensions, and how the room works. These are made for decision-making first, and then for trade pricing once the direction is chosen.

COLOUR AND FINISHES SCHEDULE

A schedule that ties paint colours, wall finishes, flooring, tile, and metal finishes together. It’s set up so you can pull samples, check them in the house light, and commit with confidence.

What it costs

These are three ways to price the same full home design plan, depending on how much of the house you want to decide now versus later.

Priced items

Next steps

If you’d like me to start your full home design plan, you can book it in three steps.

1. Sign this proposal. 2. Pay the 50% booking invoice within 14 days. 3. Schedule the on-site measure and photos, then I’ll begin the measured plan.

CAN YOU WORK WITH THE PIECES WE’RE KEEPING, OR DO WE START OVER?

I can work with what you’re keeping. I’ll measure the key pieces, draw them into the plan at true size, and design the layout around them. If something is fighting the room, I’ll show you why with clearances and alternatives.

DO YOU COME TO SITE IN ARLES TO MEASURE, OR DO YOU WORK FROM OUR PLANS?

I come to site in Arles and nearby for the measured survey and photos. If you already have plans, I’m happy to review them, but I still prefer to verify key dimensions before layout and joinery decisions are locked in.

HOW MANY LAYOUT OPTIONS DO WE GET BEFORE WE PICK A DIRECTION?

I usually present two layout options per area, sometimes three where a house can genuinely support it. Each option comes with the same level of thinking, so you’re choosing between real routes, not a “good” and “bad” version.

CAN YOU COORDINATE WITH OUR CARPENTER AND ELECTRICIAN, OR DO YOU JUST HAND OVER DRAWINGS?

I can coordinate directly with your carpenter and electrician around the drawings I issue, so questions get answered once and decisions stay consistent. I don’t project-manage the whole build, but I will clarify intent and dimensions as needed.

Fee summary

Payment

A 50% deposit books your slot when you sign. The remaining 50% is due when I hand over the finished full home design plan. Each invoice is payable within 14 days of its date.

What counts as complete. The work is complete when I deliver the items listed for your chosen package in one handover set. Small clarifications to help you read the drawings are included for 30 days after handover.

Changes to scope. If you ask for work outside the agreed package, I’ll describe the added item and fee in writing before I start. Nothing extra is billed unless you reply to approve it.

Client inputs. Before I begin layouts, you’ll send any existing plans you have and a list of the key pieces you’re keeping. I’ll also need access for the measured survey and photos at an agreed time.

Site access and dimensions

I measure on site in Arles and nearby. If I’m working from plans you provide for any area, I’ll base drawings on those dimensions, and I’m not responsible for errors that come from missing or incorrect measurements.

Revisions. Each package includes the refinement rounds listed in pricing. A refinement round means one consolidated list of changes from you, sent in one message, so I’m not chasing moving targets across multiple threads.

Trade coordination. I can coordinate directly with your carpenter and electrician around the drawings I issue, so questions get answered once. I don’t manage the build, order materials, or supervise work on site.

Ownership and reuse. Once your final invoice is paid, you own the full home design plan for use at this property. I keep the right to reuse non-identifying images of the work in my portfolio unless you ask me not to.

Questions about this proposal template

What should a project proposal include?

A project proposal usually names the work being delivered, what’s included, what it costs, and what happens next if the client approves. The same document often carries payment terms and the conditions around changes and completion.

How do you write a project proposal for an interior design plan?

An interior design proposal works best when the deliverables are written as concrete outputs, like measured plans, layouts, and schedules, before the price shows up. Payment terms, revision rules, and responsibilities around site dimensions also need to be in writing so the client can approve without guessing.

Should a proposal include payment terms and a deposit?

A proposal can include the deposit amount and when it’s due, plus when the remaining balance is due. This template states a 50% deposit on signing and the remaining 50% on delivery, with invoice due dates also written in.

How do you handle changes to scope in a proposal?

A proposal can state that out-of-scope items get described and priced in writing before work starts. The goal is to make “extra work” something both sides explicitly approve, rather than a surprise later.

How many revision rounds should a project proposal allow?

A proposal can define a revision round as one consolidated list of changes sent in one message, which avoids scattered edits across multiple threads. This template ties revision rounds to the package listed in pricing, so the proposal can point back to that limit.

Can a project proposal be signed online?

A proposal can be set up for online acceptance so the signature sits inside the same document as the scope, price, and terms. This template includes a signature section in the next steps so acceptance captures the agreement in place.
