The short version
You’ll have a homepage you can put live without cringing: clear sections, straightforward promises, and a call to action that brings in the right kind of enquiries.
I’ll write a homepage that says what you do, who it’s for, and what happens next, in the same plain voice you use with customers. This proposal covers the scope, timing, and what it costs.
I start with a short intake call, then I build the homepage around the questions people actually ask before they call. I’ll pull real details out of your job list, your process, and your “we don’t do that” lines, so the page sounds like you and does not dodge the practical stuff.
About us
I run Pine Street Copy, and I write website copy for small shops and contractors. I got into this work the same way a lot of business owners do, by watching good businesses lose jobs because their sites said almost nothing. Most of my projects start with messy notes, old estimates, and a Google Doc full of half-starts.
People hire me when they want copy that sounds like a real person doing real work. I’ll ask for the unglamorous details, like what’s included, what changes the price, and what a normal timeline looks like, then I’ll put it on the page in clean sentences. If something is a guess, I’ll label it as a guess.
One from recently
Here’s an example of what this kind of project looks like once it moves from drafts into a live site.
A one-person home service contractor replacing a one-page site while keeping the same phone number and booking flow. Their old homepage was basically a logo, a list of towns, and “Call for a quote.” Good work was coming in through referrals, but the site was not filtering or answering basic questions, so calls started with price hunting and confusion about what was included.
I interviewed them about the jobs they actually want, then I built the page around those: what the service is, what shows up in the price, and what a normal day on the calendar looks like. I wrote sections that set expectations in plain words, then I tightened the calls to action so each one matched a next step they can actually deliver.
In the first 30 days after launch, the form brought in 17 enquiries, and 11 of them included the job type, rough timing, and location without a follow-up email.
“It finally sounds like me. People show up to the first call already understanding what I do, what it costs in broad strokes, and what the next step is.”

Homepage copy draft
A complete homepage draft with section headings and page flow. I’ll write the words that go on the page, including the main call to action and supporting calls to action.
HOMEPAGE WIRE COPY
A simple outline that shows where each section starts and ends, what each section is doing, and what the visitor should understand before they move down the page.
TWO EDIT ROUNDS
Two rounds of revisions on the homepage copy. You’ll mark changes in one place, I’ll update the master draft, and I’ll call out any new questions that affect accuracy.
Final homepage copy
A clean final version ready to paste into your site builder. I’ll format it so headings, short sections, and bullets stay readable when they hit a real layout.
SHORT VOICE AND TONE GUIDE
A one-page reference that captures your “sound” with examples. It covers wording you should keep using, wording to avoid, and a few default phrases you can reuse across new pages.
ADD-ON PAGE OPTIONS
If you want to keep going after the homepage, I’ll include add-on pricing for Services, About, a landing page for one seasonal offer, or a rewrite of existing pages.
What it costs
Pick the level that matches how much thinking you want me to do up front. Every option includes the homepage draft, wire copy, two edit rounds, and a short voice guide.

What do you need from me to write this?
A 45-minute call, your current drafts (even if they’re rough), and a simple job list. I’ll also ask for your rough price ranges, what changes the price, and what a normal timeline looks like.
HOW MANY ROUNDS OF EDITS ARE INCLUDED?
Two rounds on the homepage. Round one is for accuracy and missing details. Round two is for tightening, trimming, and making sure the page reads clean once it is in your layout.
Can you match how we talk in the shop, not corporate?
Yes. I’ll listen for the phrases you already use with customers and I’ll write from those. If a line reads like a brochure, I cut it. If a claim needs a concrete detail to be believable, I’ll ask for it.
ARE YOU DOING SEO OR JUST THE WORDS?
This is primarily copywriting, but I’ll use basic on-page SEO habits: clear headings, plain language people actually search, and a page structure that supports one main topic. If you want keyword research, I’ll price it as an add-on.
Payment
I take a 50% deposit to book the project and start work. The remaining 50% is due when I send your final homepage copy. Invoices are due within 7 days.
Schedule. Once the deposit is paid and I have what I need from you, most homepage projects take 10 to 15 business days to draft. Edit rounds usually take 2 to 4 business days each, depending on your reply time.
What I need from you. Before I draft, I’ll send a short list of questions. I’ll need your answers, your current page drafts (even if they’re rough), and any must-keep details like services, service area, hours, and contact info.
Edits. Each package includes two rounds of edits on the homepage. An edit round means you send one consolidated set of notes, and I revise once. Extra rounds are available at $175/hour, billed in 15-minute increments.
Add-on pages are quoted and invoiced separately from the homepage package. If you decide to add a Services page, About page, landing page, or a broader rewrite, I’ll confirm the scope and price in writing before I start.
Changes to scope. If the scope shifts midstream, I’ll tell you what changes and what it costs before I do the extra work. I don’t keep working on a bigger scope and surprise you on the invoice.
SEO and claims. I’ll write with real search terms in mind and keep pages scannable, but I’m not doing keyword research or technical SEO in this scope. Any pricing, timelines, or guarantees on the page need to come from you.
Ownership. Once the final invoice is paid, you own the final homepage copy and can use it on your website and marketing. Until then, drafts stay mine and can’t be published or shared as final copy.
