This document covers how I plan, teach, book, and bill your sessions, and how we handle changes like rescheduling.
If you have an accepted proposal or booking confirmation from me, these terms sit alongside it. If anything ever looks inconsistent, tell me and I will confirm in writing which version we are both working to before the next session.
What you’ve booked
One session is a live, one-to-one lesson with me, booked for the length shown in your pricing option and held either in-person at the agreed location or online by video link. You have booked the number of sessions shown on your invoice, and I will confirm your lesson time by message once we agree a slot.
Please bring something to take notes, and if you have a real-world need coming up (a meeting, an exam task, a call with a host family), send it to me in advance so I can build the lesson around it.
Payment
I invoice memberships and term blocks at the start of each period, before the sessions in that period take place. Nothing is paid up front beyond that. If you book single sessions instead of a membership, I invoice those when they are booked so the time is held for you.
Every invoice is payable within 7 days of its date. If a payment is overdue, I may pause future bookings until the account is up to date. If you think an invoice is wrong, tell me quickly and I will review it with you before your next session.
Rescheduling and missed sessions
If you need to reschedule a booked lesson, message me as soon as you can. With enough notice, I will offer the next available slot that fits my schedule. The notice period that counts as “enough”, and any late-cancellation fee, are set by me in the pricing option you chose.
If you cancel too late or do not attend (a no-show), I treat it the way your pricing option explains. If I need to cancel, I will give you as much notice as I can and you can choose either a reschedule or credit back to your pack or membership so you do not lose the session.
Using packs and memberships
If you buy a pack or block, you use it by booking one-to-one language lessons in advance, one session at a time, until the sessions are used. I will confirm each lesson time by message, and for online sessions I will also send the video link I will use.
Whether unused sessions carry over, whether a pack expires, and any time limits on using sessions are set by me and shown in the pricing section for the option you chose. Refunds are not offered for unused sessions once a pack or membership period has started, unless I cannot provide the service as agreed, in which case I will discuss the options with you in writing.
If the student is under
18
If the student is a child or teenager, a parent or guardian is the person who agrees to these terms, handles booking messages, and is responsible for paying invoices on time. I will communicate lesson times, changes, and learning notes with the parent or guardian unless you and I agree something different in writing.
For in-person sessions, the parent or guardian is responsible for safe drop-off and collection. If a student arrives early or is collected late, I may need to adjust the session location or timing for safety, or ask that sessions switch to online if that is the safer option.
What this is and isn’t
One-to-one language lessons are coaching and practice. I will help you build speaking, listening, pronunciation, and useful grammar through real sentences and real situations, but I cannot guarantee a specific result. Progress depends on attendance, practice between sessions, your starting level, and what you need the language for.
I do not provide counselling, therapy, or medical support. If you are dealing with something that needs a health or mental health professional, please seek the right specialist. If anxiety or stress affects your speaking, tell me so I can pace the work kindly, but my role is still language teaching.
Ongoing billing
Recurring bookings run in invoiced periods, usually monthly, and they renew automatically period by period unless you tell me you want to stop. I invoice at the start of each period, before the sessions in that period take place, and the invoice due date is 7 days from the invoice date.
To end a recurring arrangement, you or I give notice in writing. The notice period is set by me in the pricing option you chose. If you give notice after a new period has already been invoiced, we will follow that pricing option for whether sessions can be used during the notice period or whether the change takes effect from the next period.
Ending the arrangement
Either of us can end this arrangement by giving notice in writing. The notice period is the one shown in the pricing option you chose, unless you and I agree a different notice period in writing for a specific situation.
If you have sessions already paid for when we end, I will either deliver the remaining sessions during the notice period or, if that is not possible, apply a fair credit for the undelivered sessions, based on what you have paid and what has already been taught. I may end sessions immediately if your behaviour, or the behaviour of someone connected to the session, makes the lesson unsafe, threatening, or impossible to teach.
