File preview and in-app editor
Most common file types open directly without needing to download first. Images, PDFs, Office documents, and MP4/WebM videos all render in a built-in previewer, so reviewing a file is one click from anywhere in the workspace.
Previewing files
Clicking a file opens the preview overlay. Images display at full resolution. PDFs and Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) render inline with scrolling. MP4 and WebM videos play in an embedded player with standard playback controls. Other file types show a download option instead of a preview. The preview works on both desktop and mobile.
The in-app document editor
Documents in Google Docs-compatible formats can be opened in the in-app editor for direct editing without downloading. The editor supports basic formatting, headings, and lists. Edits save in real time, so there's no manual save step and no risk of losing work mid-edit.
Preview vs. external tools
The built-in previewer and editor handle quick reviews and lightweight edits well. For more complex formatting or specialised tools, files can always be downloaded, edited locally, and re-uploaded to the file manager.
