Wedding mornings tighten fast, and the bit that rattles everyone is timing: one late arrival and makeup gets rushed, photos slide, and the style starts getting pulled around before the vows. The bridal hair contract gives the couple something in writing on how the booking is held, how the morning gets scheduled, and what happens when plans change, in a jacaranda purple and olive layout with Fraunces headings over Inter body text.

The contract starts by defining what counts as wedding-day bridal hair styling, including any trial appointment and bridal party services for the same date, then moves into What I do so the client sees what’s included before any money talk. Holding your date and Payment explain the retainer, when the remaining balance is due, and how invoices get issued, then the contract gets specific about deadlines for final numbers, how schedule timing is built, and how late changes get priced and confirmed. The later sections cover working alongside makeup, photography, and venue access rules, what happens when travel or access eats into the styling window, and where responsibility sits if prep, late arrivals, or weather undo hold.

  • It covers wedding-day bridal hair styling Defines the services covered for the event date, including trials and bridal party styling when booked.
  • What I do Spells out the on-site styling work, fitting and anchoring, and how the minutes-per-person schedule is built from final numbers.
  • Holding your date Explains that the date is only reserved after signature and a retainer, and what that retainer does and doesn’t refund.
  • Payment States the retainer percentage, how the remaining balance is calculated from final numbers, and when invoices fall due.
  • Cancellation Covers how cancellations are handled, what happens to the retainer, and includes a signature block to sign the agreement.

Once the contract is in Plutio, you replace the names, dates, and rates, send it to the client, and collect the signature online. The signed agreement becomes the reference point for the ready-by time, the headcount deadline, and any reschedules or cancellations you have to confirm in writing.

We went from spending hours on every proposal to creating fully customized ones in under 5 minutes. That's not an exaggeration - we timed it.

The contract in full

It covers wedding-day bridal hair styling and any trial appointment and bridal party styling you book with me for the same event date.

If you have an accepted proposal or booking summary from me, that is the plan I am working to. These terms sit alongside it and set out how I hold your date, how I schedule the morning, and what happens if plans change.

What I do

On your wedding date, I provide on-site hair styling for you and anyone else you book with me, plus hairpiece and veil fitting and anchoring, and touch-ups if you have booked coverage between ceremony and reception. I work from the start time and location you confirm, and I build a simple minutes-per-person schedule once I have your final numbers.

Your booked services are listed below, and the timing and pricing in your accepted proposal apply to that list.

* On-site set-up and kit layout * Wedding-day bridal hair styling * Veil and hairpiece anchoring * Final hold and shine check * Bridal party hair styling * Touch-up coverage

Holding your date

I only take one wedding booking for a time slot, so I only hold a date once this agreement is signed and the retainer is paid. Until then, your date stays open for someone else to book.

The retainer is what reserves your time in my diary and covers the planning and prep that starts straight away (messages, schedule planning, and holding the slot I could otherwise sell). If you cancel, the retainer is not refunded. If you move the date, I handle that under the postponement section below.

Payment

To book, you pay a 25% retainer when you sign. The remaining 75% is due before the event, based on your final numbers, by the date I set and confirm to you in writing.

I send invoices for the retainer and any later balance or changes. Each invoice is payable within 14 days of its date. If an invoice would fall due too close to the wedding morning to be practical, I will set an earlier due date for the balance so everything is settled before I arrive and we can focus on timings and styling.

Final numbers and schedule

I will ask you to confirm your final headcount for hair (you, plus each bridal party person), the getting-ready address, and your ready-by time by a deadline I set and send to you in writing. I use that information to lock your start time, finish time, the order of services, and the final balance due.

After that deadline, I price the booking on the final number you confirmed, even if fewer people sit in the chair on the day. This is because I have held the time in my schedule and I cannot usually refill last-minute gaps.

Changes to your plan

If you want to add or remove people, change the start time, swap the style, add touch-up coverage, or change location after you sign, message me in writing with what you want to change. I will confirm whether it still fits the morning schedule, and I will price the change before I do it.

A change is only booked once you confirm the updated price and timings in writing. Close to the wedding date, I may not be able to accept changes that increase time, because I cannot run past the agreed end time without pushing your whole morning.

Working with your other suppliers

You book and pay your other suppliers directly, like makeup, photography, transport, and your venue or hotel. I am happy to work alongside a planner and follow a run sheet, but my agreement is with you unless we both agree otherwise in writing.

On the morning, I need a workable set-up spot (chair, mirror, and a plug point if I am using heated tools), and clear access to the room at the agreed arrival time. If security, parking, stairs, or check-in procedures add time, that time comes out of the styling window unless we adjust the schedule together.

Extra time and travel

I price and schedule based on the start time, end time, location, and the number of people you book. If the booking runs over because extra services are added on the day, or because travel and access take longer than planned, I will tell you as soon as I can and I will charge for the extra time at my rate.

Where possible, I will agree the extra time with you before I start it. If I cannot run over because I have another commitment, I will still finish at the agreed end time, and any remaining styling will need to be simplified to fit.

Moving the date

If you need to move your wedding date, tell me as soon as you know. If I am available for the new date and the new timings still fit, I will move your booking and I will apply your retainer to the new date. If I am not available, it is treated as a cancellation and the cancellation terms apply.

If something outside anyone’s control stops the event going ahead as planned (for example a venue issue, a travel disruption, or a public safety situation), I will work with you on the best practical option, which may be a new date, a shorter service, or a different location. Any decision needs to be confirmed in writing so we are both working to the same plan.

What I’m responsible for

I take your timing seriously and I plan my morning to arrive when agreed. If I am delayed by something outside my control (like an accident on the road or access issues at the building), I will contact you as soon as I can, and I will adjust the styling plan to protect the most important parts first: your hair and your hairpiece and veil anchoring.

I am not responsible for issues caused by hair prep that does not match what I asked for (for example wet hair when I need it dry), late arrivals to the chair, or last-minute changes made by someone else. I also cannot guarantee wear if hair is repeatedly taken down, brushed out, or exposed to heavy moisture or heat after I finish.

Cancellation

If you need to cancel, tell me in writing as soon as you can so I can release the date. Your retainer is not refundable, because it is what held your time and turned away other bookings.

If you cancel closer to the wedding date, I may keep an additional amount on top of the retainer, because it becomes harder to refill the booking. The cut-offs and what is kept at each point are set by me and I will confirm them to you in writing when you book, so you know where you stand. Any amounts already paid are credited against what is owed under those cut-offs.

Questions about this contract template

What should a bridal hair contract include?

A bridal hair contract usually covers the services included, how the date is reserved, payment timing, and how final numbers and the schedule get confirmed. This one also covers changes, extra time and travel, postponements, cancellations, and responsibilities on the day.

How much deposit should a bride pay for wedding hair?

This contract sets a 25% retainer due when the agreement is signed, with the remaining 75% due before the event. The final balance is based on the confirmed headcount by a deadline the stylist provides in writing.

When should final numbers for bridal party hair be confirmed?

Final headcount, getting-ready address, and ready-by time get confirmed by a deadline the stylist sets in writing. After that point, pricing is based on the final number confirmed, even if fewer people sit in the chair on the day.

Can a bride change the number of bridesmaids getting their hair done after booking?

Changes like adding or removing people or changing timing need to be requested in writing, then priced and confirmed before they’re booked in. Close to the wedding date, changes that add time may be declined if they push the morning past the agreed end time.

What happens if the wedding date gets moved?

If the stylist is available and the new timings still fit, the booking moves and the retainer applies to the new date. If the stylist isn’t available, the move is treated as a cancellation and the cancellation terms apply.

What happens if the hairstylist is delayed on the wedding morning?

The contract says the stylist plans to arrive when agreed, and will contact the client if something outside their control causes a delay. The styling plan then gets adjusted to protect the most important parts first, including the bride’s hair and any hairpiece and veil anchoring.
