Clear direction sounds simple until the job search hits the moment where a choice has to stick, and the words have to hold up in an interview. A resume can look finished while the story still doesn’t match the roles getting clicked, which leaves the search stalled anyway. This career coaching proposal gives that decision a place to land, then prices the work that turns it into applications.

The proposal opens with In brief, so the client sees the target outcome and the way the work moves from role selection into story, materials, and practice. A bit about us and Meet the team explain who does what, then Your sessions spells out how sessions run and what the client brings. The price sits in Pricing under Poppins headings with Roboto body text, using a crisp engineered blue with a warm ochre accent, and the proposal answers the usual sticking points, including "What happens if I don’t know what roles I want yet?".

  • In brief Summarises the target role focus, the materials that get rebuilt around it, and what changes once interviews get practised out loud.
  • Your sessions Describes how sessions run, what gets covered in intake and targeting, and what the client should bring to start.
  • Pricing Lists the Target and materials pack as the priced item, leaving you to replace the template price with your own.
  • Payment States when invoices are issued and due, plus the rules around rescheduling, cancellations, and no-shows.
  • Get started Carries the signature and fee summary so acceptance reserves the first session and kicks off the intake steps.

Once the scope and numbers are right, you send the proposal and the client accepts online, then Get started collects a signature and shows the fee summary. The only thing you need to swap in is your own price for Target and materials pack before the proposal goes out.

We went from spending hours on every proposal to creating fully customized ones in under 5 minutes. That's not an exaggeration - we timed it.

What to include in a career coaching proposal

PartWhat it covers

In brief

Explains the target outcome and the coaching path from choosing roles to aligning resume, LinkedIn, and interview answers before the client sees the price.

A bit about us

Gives the client context on who the coaching is for and how targeting gets tested against real job listings rather than left at motivation.

Meet the team

Introduces the team structure so the client knows who owns each part of the work and what each person needs from them.

Team

Names the coach and specialists involved and outlines what each person handles, from intake through interview practice.

Your sessions

Details session length and format, what the client should bring, and how intake and targeting work gets used to force clear choices.

Pricing

Includes a priced items block for Target and materials pack, and you replace the template numbers with your own before sending.

Get started

Carries a signature and fee summary so the client can accept, then follow the start steps around invoicing and intake.

What happens if I don’t know what roles I want yet?

Answers how the coaching handles uncertainty at the start, moving from options and constraints into tests against postings.

Payment

Sets the invoicing timing and due window, then explains reschedules, cancellations, and no-shows in plain terms.

Between-session work

Explains what homework looks like between sessions and how resume, LinkedIn, and offer support fit into the work between calls.

Who it is for

Career coaches and resume-writing practices sending a proposal to mid-career clients who need a target role, aligned materials, and interview practice.

The proposal in full

In brief

You’ll be applying to a defined set of roles with a story that matches the postings, a resume and LinkedIn that back it up, and interview answers you’ve already practised out loud.

We’ll pin down a target that fits, build the story that supports it, then practise the conversations until they sound like you. You’ll finish with a direction you can act on and materials that match the roles you’re applying for. Next step: pick a start date and we’ll book the intake.

We start with your work history and the moments that have shaped your choices so far. Then we map a short list of target roles and a job list to pressure-test the fit. Once the target is clear, we rewrite your resume and LinkedIn to match it, and we drill interviews and offer conversations on recording.

A bit about us

We do career coaching for mid-career professionals who have enough experience to be valuable, but not a clean next title to reach for. Most of our clients come in after a reorg, a relocation, or a stretch where the market around them changes faster than their job has. Our work is built around making a choice, then building the proof for it.

We get chosen when someone wants direction that holds up under real job listings and real interviews. We do not leave you with a worksheet and a pep talk. We use a target role map, a job list, and recorded practice to keep decisions honest. When something is unclear, we tighten the target before we polish the wording.

Meet the team

You’ll work with a small team, and you’ll know who owns each part of the work and what they need from you.

Team

Erin Caldwell, Career coach. Erin is your career coach. She runs intake, helps you choose a target, and keeps weekly decisions moving with short check-ins.

Marcus Hale, Resume writer. Marcus is our resume writer. He turns your work history into an ATS-ready resume and runs the proof cycle with you until it reads cleanly.

Dana Whitaker, LinkedIn specialist. Dana handles LinkedIn. She rebuilds your profile around the same target and tests headlines and recruiter messages against real searches.

Jordan Pierce, Interview coach. Jordan runs interview prep. He records mock interviews, then debriefs what landed, what rambled, and what to tighten for next time.

“I stopped second-guessing my target, and interviews started feeling straightforward.”

Your sessions

Sessions are 50 minutes on video, with shared notes and a short action list at the end. Bring your current resume, a rough work history, and two or three roles you have saved, even if you are not sure about them.

1. Intake deep dive First session Erin walks through your work history, the decisions you have made, and the work you want more of. We capture themes, constraints, and deal-breakers, then agree what “clear target” will mean for you by the end of the first phase. 2. Target and job list Next sessions We build a target role map and a job list, then use postings to test fit. You will bring 5 to 10 listings you would realistically apply to. We use them to decide what to keep, what to drop, and what story your materials need to support. 3. Practice and feedback Each session Jordan runs live practice on the conversations that block people most: introductions, “tell me about yourself,” and hard questions about changes. We record the mock, then review it together so you leave with specific edits to make before the next round. 4. Progress check Every 2 weeks We review what you applied to, what responses came back, and where the story is holding or breaking. If the target is too broad or too narrow, we adjust it before we do more polishing. If an offer appears mid-program, we shift a session to offer review and negotiation prep.

Pricing

Most people start with a single session, then move into a pack once the target role and job list are taking shape.

Get started

If you want to move this forward, we can get the intake booked and start turning options into a plan.

1. Sign this proposal to reserve your first session. 2. Watch for your invoice for the first period, due within 7 days. 3. Complete the intake form and upload your current resume before session one.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DOES THIS USUALLY TAKE BEFORE I’M APPLYING WITH A CLEAR TARGET?

Most clients reach a clear target in 2 to 4 sessions, because we use real job listings to force decisions. If your background spans a few lanes, it can take longer. We will tell you what we are seeing by the end of session two.

ARE YOU GOING TO REWRITE MY RESUME, OR AM I DOING DRAFTS BETWEEN SESSIONS?

Marcus does the rewrite, using your work history and the target we agree on. You will still have homework. You will review, answer questions, and supply missing details so the resume reads like you and matches the roles.

What happens if I don’t know what roles I want yet?

That is a normal place to start. We will pull options out of your history, narrow them with constraints and deal-breakers, then test them against job postings. You do not need a perfect goal on day one. You do need to be willing to choose and revise.

CAN YOU HELP ME NEGOTIATE IF AN OFFER COMES IN MID-PROGRAM?

Yes. If an offer lands while we are working together, we can use a session for offer review, negotiation prep, and message drafting. We will look at the numbers, the role scope, and the risk points, then plan the next conversation.

Payment

Memberships and monthly work are invoiced at the start of each period, before the sessions happen. Every invoice is due within 7 days of the invoice date. We will confirm your session times once the invoice is in place.

Cancellations. If you need to reschedule, tell us as early as you can so we can offer the time to someone else. Our cancellation window and any late-cancel fee are set by us and shared when you book.

No shows. If you miss a session without notice, we treat it as a no-show. Any no-show fee, and whether the session is forfeited or can be rebooked, is set by us and shared when you book.

Using session packs. Session packs are used for career coaching work inside the scope we agreed, including target-role decisions, resume and LinkedIn review, and interview practice. Whether a pack expires, and how far out sessions can be scheduled, is set by us.

Between-session work

You will usually have short homework between sessions, like filling gaps in work history, choosing between target roles, or drafting bullets. We use that material in session so decisions move forward instead of resetting each week.

Resume and LinkedIn edits. Marcus writes the resume rewrite based on your history and the target roles we pick. Dana handles the LinkedIn overhaul. You will review drafts, answer questions, and supply missing details so the final version sounds like you.

Offer timing. If an offer lands while we are working together, we can use a scheduled session for offer review, negotiation prep, and message drafting. If timing is tight, we will offer the next available slot or an async review option if available.

What career coaching is not. Career coaching is practical support for decisions, materials, and conversations in a job search. It is not therapy, legal advice, or financial advice. We cannot promise a specific job outcome, interview rate, or salary result.

Questions about this proposal template

What should a career coaching proposal include?

A career coaching proposal usually includes the coaching scope, what sessions cover, what work happens between sessions, pricing, and payment terms. This proposal also clarifies who on the team owns intake, resume, LinkedIn, and interview prep.

How many coaching sessions does it take to get a clear target role?

Many clients reach a clear target in 2 to 4 sessions when the coaching uses real job listings to pressure-test fit. The proposal notes that wider backgrounds can take longer, and the coach shares what they’re seeing by the end of session two.

Do career coaches rewrite the resume and LinkedIn, or does the client do drafts?

Both approaches exist, but this proposal describes a resume writer handling the resume rewrite and a LinkedIn specialist rebuilding the profile around the chosen target. The client reviews drafts, answers questions, and fills gaps so the materials still sound like them.

What happens if I don’t know what roles I want yet in career coaching?

Career coaching can start from uncertainty by pulling options from work history, narrowing them with constraints and deal-breakers, then testing against job postings. This proposal makes that process explicit so the early work leads to a choice you can revise.

Do I need to pay before career coaching sessions start?

Some coaches invoice in advance, and this proposal states that monthly work is invoiced at the start of each period before sessions happen. Each invoice is due within 7 days of the invoice date, and session times get confirmed once the invoice is in place.

Can a career coach help negotiate a job offer during the program?

Yes, a coach can use a session for offer review, negotiation prep, and message drafting when an offer lands mid-program. This proposal says the conversation covers the numbers, the role scope, and risk points, then plans the next message.
