A client books massage & bodywork because something hurts and they want steady relief, but the same booking can feel risky if pressure goes too far or the room doesn’t feel private. This massage contract gives both sides the ground rules in writing before sessions start, including what’s being booked, when fees are due, and what happens when plans change. The wording sits under Space Grotesk headings with Inter body text, with olive sections and a red accent used where decisions need to be clear.

The document opens by naming the therapist and tying the terms to recurring sessions plus any accepted proposal or booking details. The next sections cover what a session can include, how invoicing in advance works, and how rescheduling, missed sessions, packs, memberships, and recurring billing are handled. Health and safety disclosures sit next to a plain-language list of normal risks, then privacy, draping, and boundaries spell out what stays covered and how consent and comfort checks work... followed by a photos and video permission section so nothing gets captured without a clear yes.

  • I am Jiwon Park, Massage therapist Names the therapist delivering the sessions and links the terms to recurring bookings plus any accepted proposal or booking details.
  • What you’re booking Describes what a massage session is, how the session type and length get confirmed, and what intake and comfort checks shape during the work.
  • Payment Explains invoicing in advance, the 7-day payment window, and when sessions are confirmed based on payment status.
  • Privacy, draping, and boundaries States how draping works, what stays covered, what clients can ask for in the moment, and what behaviour ends a session.
  • Ending the arrangement Covers how either side can end ongoing sessions and includes the signature block for sign-off.

Once the contract is in Plutio, you swap in your own names, rates, and policies, send it to a client, and collect an online signature so the same terms apply across future bookings.

We went from spending hours on every proposal to creating fully customized ones in under 5 minutes. That's not an exaggeration - we timed it.

Who it is for

Massage therapists, sports massage practitioners, clinical massage providers, and mobile massage practitioners who run recurring sessions, packs, or memberships and need the terms signed before ongoing bookings.

The contract in full

I am Jiwon Park, Massage therapist, and I will be the person you see for each massage session you book under this document.

These terms cover every massage session you purchase on a recurring basis, along with any accepted proposal or booking details that describe your sessions. By booking and attending, you are agreeing to the practical ground rules below so we both know what to expect, especially around payment, cancellations, health, comfort, and privacy.

What you’re booking

A massage session is hands-on bodywork in a private treatment room, planned around what you tell me in intake and what I find through normal, non-medical assessment of comfort and movement. Your booking confirmation or invoice shows the session length, the type you chose (for example Swedish, deep tissue, sports, trigger point, myofascial release, or prenatal), and how many sessions are included in your recurring plan.

Please arrive a few minutes early for the first visit, and tell me your main goals (for example neck and shoulders, lower back and hips, or full-body with pressure changes). Wear whatever is easiest to change out of, and bring any notes from your clinician if you have been asked to get clearance.

Payment

Massage session fees are invoiced in advance. If you are on a membership, I invoice at the start of each period, before the sessions in that period take place. If you are buying sessions another way, I invoice at the time of booking or at the start of the agreed block, depending on what your invoice says.

Every invoice is payable within 7 days of its date. Sessions are not confirmed until the invoice is paid, and I do not start a new membership period until the prior period’s invoice is up to date. If anything on an invoice does not match what you expected, tell me right away so I can fix it before you pay.

Rescheduling and missed sessions

If you need to move or cancel a massage session, tell me as soon as you can so I can offer the time to someone else. My cancellation notice window is set by me and may vary by time of day or how busy the schedule is. If you cancel inside that window, I may charge a late-cancellation fee or count the session as used, based on the policy in place when you booked.

If you miss a massage session without notice, I may charge a no-show fee because that time was held for you and I cannot usually rebook it last-minute. If I need to cancel (for example due to illness), you can choose the next available time or have that session credited back to your pack or membership.

Packs and memberships

If you buy a session pack, it covers the number of massage session visits listed on your invoice. I track pack usage by the date of each visit, and you can ask me at any time how many you have left. Any expiry period for a pack, and any refund policy for unused sessions, are set by me and will be the policy in place at the time you purchase.

If you are on a membership, your membership sessions are used during the invoiced period shown on your invoice. If you are not sure how many sessions you can fit into a period, ask me before you purchase. Any rollover policy for unused membership sessions is set by me and applies only if I have confirmed it in writing.

Health and safety information

Before your first massage session, and any time something changes, you agree to tell me anything that could affect how I work with you safely. This includes pregnancy trimester, injuries, recent surgeries, skin conditions, allergies or sensitivities (including oils and lotions), numbness or nerve symptoms, blood clot history, fever or contagious illness, and any medications that affect bruising, sensation, or blood pressure.

I will ask questions during intake, but you know your body best, so I need you to speak up. If I am not confident massage is safe on a given day, I may change the plan, avoid an area, reduce pressure, or pause the session and suggest you check with your clinician before we continue. Safety comes first, even if it means doing less hands-on work that day.

Normal risks

Massage session work is usually gentle and steady, but it can have normal, everyday risks. These can include temporary soreness, fatigue, lightheadedness when getting off the table, a flare-up of an already-irritated area, skin sensitivity, or bruising, especially with deeper pressure or trigger point work.

You are always in control of pressure and pace. You can ask me to ease up, change approach, avoid an area, or stop at any time. By choosing to receive massage, you are choosing to take on the ordinary risks that can come with bodywork. This does not cover carelessness on my part, and it is not a promise that nothing can go wrong. It is simply an honest description of what can happen with hands-on work.

Privacy, draping, and boundaries

I use professional draping for every massage session. You will be covered by a sheet or towel the entire time, and I only uncover the area I am working on. Your chest and glutes stay covered. You can choose to keep more coverage (for example keeping underwear on), and you can ask for an extra towel, more secure tucking, or a change in position at any time.

My work stays strictly focused on therapeutic bodywork. Sexual comments, jokes, requests, or any behaviour that makes the room unsafe will end the session immediately, and the full fee still applies because the time was reserved. If anything feels unclear, tell me in the moment. I will adjust right away.

Photos and video

I do not take photos or video of you during a massage session unless you give me clear permission first. If there is a useful reason (for example a posture reference you asked for, or an image of a taped area after the session), I will tell you what I want to capture, how it will be used, and where it will be stored.

You can say no without needing to explain, and it will not change the quality of the massage session. If you say yes and later change your mind, you can withdraw your permission at any time. If you withdraw permission, I will stop taking images right away and I will not share anything new going forward. Any sharing is only done with your approval each time.

Recurring sessions

Your recurring plan runs in periods, and each period renews on the schedule shown on your invoice. I invoice at the start of each period, before the sessions in that period take place, and that invoice is payable within 7 days of its date.

If you want to stop recurring billing, tell me before the next period starts so I do not issue the next invoice. The notice you need to give is set by me and depends on how the schedule is running at the time, and I will confirm it for you in writing when you ask. If you stop recurring billing, you can still use any sessions already paid for during the active period, subject to my booking availability and the cancellation rules above.

Ending the arrangement

You can end this arrangement by telling me you do not want to book further massage session work. I will finish any sessions already booked and paid for, unless you ask to cancel them and my cancellation rules apply. If you have prepaid sessions remaining in a pack or membership period, what happens next depends on the pack or membership rules on your invoice and the refund or rollover policy in place when you purchased.

I may also stop working with you if your conduct makes sessions unsafe, including harassment, sexual comments or requests, repeated boundary pushing, threats, or arriving intoxicated. If I end the arrangement for safety reasons, any already-paid sessions that have not happened yet will be handled in a fair, practical way based on what has been used and what cannot be rebooked. I will explain my decision and next steps in writing.

Questions about this contract template

What should a massage contract include?

A massage contract usually includes what’s being booked, payment timing, rescheduling and no-show rules, health and safety disclosures, normal risks, privacy and draping boundaries, and consent around photos or video. This template includes all of those sections, plus recurring sessions and an ending-the-arrangement sign-off.

Do massage clients need to sign a contract before their first session?

A signature isn’t required everywhere, but a signed agreement gives both sides the same written rules on payment, cancellations, health disclosures, and boundaries. This template is set up to be signed online before sessions take place.

How do I explain draping and what stays covered in writing?

A clear draping clause says the client stays covered and only the area being worked on gets uncovered. This template states that the chest and glutes stay covered and that clients can request more coverage, extra towels, or position changes at any time.

Is deep tissue massage supposed to hurt?

Discomfort can happen with deeper work, but pain isn’t the goal and pressure should stay under the client’s control. This template puts that in writing by stating the client can ask to ease up, change approach, avoid an area, or stop at any time.

What health information should a massage client disclose?

Common disclosures include pregnancy trimester, injuries, recent surgeries, skin conditions, allergies or sensitivities, numbness or nerve symptoms, blood clot history, fever or contagious illness, and medications that affect bruising or blood pressure. This template lists those examples and explains that the plan may change if massage isn’t safe on a given day.

How do packs, memberships, and recurring billing terms usually work for massage?

Packs usually track usage by visit date, and memberships run in billed periods with rules for expiry, refunds, or rollover set by the provider. This template covers pack tracking, membership periods and invoicing, and how to stop recurring billing before the next period starts.
