How to create a help centre with wiki
Plutio's wiki turns into a public help centre with categories, articles, a custom URL, and a live chat widget, all branded to match your business. This guide covers building and publishing a client-facing knowledge base.
- Create a wiki. From the Wiki section, create a new wiki. The wiki name becomes the help centre title, visible to visitors at the top of every page. A wiki can be standalone (workspace-level) or attached to a specific project.
- Add categories. Categories are top-level pages that organise articles into groups. Each category appears in the help centre navigation as a navigable section. Examples: "Getting Started", "Billing", "Account Settings". Categories determine the structure visitors browse through.
- Write articles. Inside each category, add pages for individual articles. The block editor supports text, headings, images, tables, and embeds. Each article page lives under its parent category and appears in the navigation when published.
- Enable public sharing. In the wiki settings, toggle public access on. The wiki becomes accessible without login at a public URL. Visitors can browse categories, read articles, and use the built-in search to find answers. No Plutio account is needed to view a public wiki.
- Set a custom URL. A custom URL can be configured so the help centre lives at your own domain (e.g.,
help.yourdomain.com). The setup requires adding a DNS record pointing to Plutio's servers. Once configured, the help centre loads under your domain with your branding. - Connect the Messenger widget. The in-app messenger can be embedded on the help centre pages. Visitors who can't find an answer in the articles can open the messenger widget and start a conversation with your team directly from the help centre.
Page structure and SEO
Each wiki page supports meta titles and meta descriptions, which control how the page appears in search engine results. Categories group related articles so search engines can crawl the help centre structure, and each article has its own permanent URL.
Branding
The public help centre carries your workspace branding, including your logo, colours, and custom domain, so visitors see your brand throughout the experience without any trace of Plutio.
