Custom domain
A custom domain replaces the default yourname.plutio.com subdomain with your own address, like app.yourbrand.com. Every client-facing page, from the login screen to invoices, proposals, forms, booking pages, and your public wiki, loads under your domain instead of the default address. The white-label add-on is required.
How to set up a custom domain
- Go to Settings > Branding.
- Scroll to the Custom domain section. You will see a help message showing your current workspace address.
- Enter your domain (for example,
app.yourbrand.com) in the text field and click Save. - Log in to your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, or wherever you manage your domain) and create a CNAME record pointing your custom domain to
yourname.plutio.com(your workspace subdomain). - Wait for DNS propagation. This typically takes a few minutes to a few hours, though in rare cases it can take up to 48 hours.
What happens after you save
Once you save the domain, your workspace checks whether a valid CNAME record exists. Until the CNAME record is detected, a warning message appears below the domain field: "Your domain is pending validation. If you have added domain records correctly, your domain will be verified shortly."
When the CNAME is verified, an SSL certificate is provisioned automatically through Cloudflare. You do not need to configure SSL manually. The certificate renews on its own, so there is no ongoing maintenance.
Once everything is ready, your workspace switches to the custom domain and the domain field shows your active domain with a Remove button next to it.
What loads under your domain
Once active, the custom domain applies across your entire workspace:
- The login page where clients and team members sign in
- The client portal where clients view projects, invoices, proposals, contracts, and files
- Public forms and booking pages shared with leads and clients
- Your public wiki and help centre articles
- Shareable proposal and contract links sent via email or chat
Every URL your clients see will carry your brand.
Removing a custom domain
To remove a custom domain, click the Remove button next to the domain field. This reverts your workspace back to the default yourname.plutio.com address. If the domain was still pending validation, removing it cancels the setup process.
