Localization settings
Your workspace has two levels of localization: workspace-wide defaults that apply to public-facing content and people without accounts, and personal preferences that apply only to you. Both are managed from Settings > Localisation.
Workspace localization
Workspace localization sets the defaults for your entire workspace. These preferences are used on anything shared publicly (invoices, proposals, contracts, forms, schedulers) and for anyone who doesn't have an account in your workspace.
To change workspace localization:
- Open Settings > Localisation.
- Under Workspace localisation, configure the following:
- Currency - the default currency for invoices, proposals, and financial documents
- Language - the default language for the workspace UI
- Timezone - the default timezone used for dates, events, and scheduled actions
- Week start day - which day the calendar week begins on
- Date format - how dates appear (for example, DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY)
- Time format - 12-hour or 24-hour clock
- Timestamp format - how timestamps display throughout the workspace (relative like "2 hours ago" or absolute like "Apr 11, 2026 3:00 PM")
- Currency format - how currency values are formatted (for example, 1,000.00 or 1.000,00)
- Changes save automatically.
Note: Only workspace owners and co-owners can edit workspace localization.
Personal localization
Personal localization overrides the workspace defaults for your own account only. Other team members and clients won't see your personal preferences - they'll continue using either the workspace defaults or their own personal settings.
To change your personal localization:
- Open Settings > Localisation.
- Under Personal localisation, adjust any of the same fields: Language, Timezone, Week start day, Date format, Time format, Timestamp format, and Currency format.
- Changes save automatically and apply only to your account.
Workspace vs personal localization
Here's how the two levels work together:
- Workspace localization controls what clients and external recipients see on invoices, proposals, contracts, forms, and schedulers. It also sets the defaults for any team member who hasn't set their own personal preferences.
- Personal localization overrides the workspace defaults for your own view only. Your invoices will still use the workspace currency when sent to clients, but dates and times in your workspace will display in your chosen format and timezone.
Tip: If your team works across multiple timezones, each person can set their own timezone under personal localization while the workspace keeps a shared default for public documents.
Changing your language
You can change the language for your own account from Personal localisation on the same page. Select your preferred language from the Language dropdown, and the entire workspace UI will switch to that language for you.
To change the workspace-wide default language (what new team members see before they set their own), update the Language field under Workspace localisation.
Custom translations
If you want to change how specific words or phrases appear in your workspace, you can override any translation string. This is useful for teams that want to rename features (for example, changing "Tasks" to "Tickets") or adjust wording to match their industry.
To customize translations:
- Open Settings > Localisation.
- Under Custom translations, select the language you want to customize.
- Use the search bar to find the text you want to change. You can search by the translation key or by the current text.
- Type your replacement text in the override field next to each item.
- If the original text contains variables (shown as clickable labels below the field), include them in your override to keep dynamic content working.
- Click Save when you're done.
Note: Custom translations apply workspace-wide for all members using that language. Billing and subscription-related text can't be overridden. To undo all changes, click Reset.
