Two-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Plutio account. When enabled, you'll need both your password and a verification code from an authenticator app to sign in.
Setting up 2FA
Step 1: Download an authenticator app
If you don't already have one, download an authenticator app on your mobile device. Popular options include:
- Google Authenticator (iOS / Android)
- Microsoft Authenticator (iOS / Android)
- Authy (iOS / Android / Desktop)
- 1Password (iOS / Android / Desktop)
Step 2: Enable 2FA in your account
- Go to Settings → Account
- Find the Two-factor authentication section
- Click Enable two-factor authentication
- A QR code will appear : scan it with your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app
- Click Verify to complete setup
Signing in with 2FA
Once 2FA is enabled, each time you sign in you'll be prompted to enter a 6-digit code from your authenticator app after entering your password.
Backup codes
Backup codes let you access your account if you lose your authenticator device. To generate backup codes:
- Go to Settings → Account → Two-factor authentication
- Click Generate backup codes
- A file with your backup codes will be downloaded
Important: Store your backup codes in a safe place. Each code can only be used once. Generating new codes will invalidate any previously generated codes.
Disabling 2FA
If you need to disable two-factor authentication:
- Go to Settings → Account → Two-factor authentication
- Click Disable two-factor authentication
- Confirm the action
You can re-enable 2FA at any time by following the setup steps again.
