Invoice, proposal, contract and form settings
Each document type has its own configuration section in Settings, controlling defaults that apply automatically to every new document. Individual documents can override these defaults, but setting them correctly means less manual adjustment per document.
Numbering and prefixes
Invoices, proposals, contracts, and forms each have a configurable numbering prefix and starting number. The prefix appears before the document number (e.g. INV-001, PROP-001), and the number auto-increments with each new document. Changing the starting number is useful when migrating from another platform and existing numbering needs to continue uninterrupted.
Default terms and conditions
Standard terms and conditions can be set per document type. Default terms appear automatically on new invoices, proposals, and contracts, so the same legal text doesn't need to be pasted into each document manually. Terms can still be edited per document when a specific situation calls for different wording.
Expiry periods
Proposals and invoices can have a default expiry period, counted in days from creation. An expiry date signals urgency to clients and can trigger automations when the period lapses. The default applies to all new documents, with the option to override on a per-document basis.
Auto-actions
Auto-actions connect document lifecycle events to follow-up steps. When a proposal is approved, Plutio can auto-create an invoice from the pricing table, generate a project with tasks, and invite the client to the workspace. A single proposal approval can trigger full project setup, with the invoice, tasks, and client access all created in one step.
Signature and payment defaults
Signature requirements can be enabled or disabled per document type. Payment defaults control which payment methods appear on invoices (Stripe, PayPal, Square, bank transfer) and whether partial payments or deposits are accepted. Setting these defaults means each new document inherits the correct payment configuration automatically.
