Email inbox (IMAP/SMTP) setup
The IMAP/SMTP integration connects any email provider to Plutio, including Office 365, Yahoo, and custom mail servers. Once configured, emails arrive in the Plutio inbox and replies go out from your own address, giving you the same inbox experience that Gmail users get through OAuth.
How to set up incoming email (IMAP)
- Go to Settings > Integrations.
- Find the Email (IMAP/SMTP) section and click to open the configuration form.
- Select a provider preset (optional). Common providers like Office 365 and Yahoo have presets that pre-fill the server hostname and port. For custom mail servers or less common providers, skip the preset and enter the details manually.
- Enter the IMAP settings:
- IMAP server, the hostname of your email provider's IMAP server (e.g.,
imap.office365.com). - IMAP port, the connection port, typically 993 for SSL.
- Email address, usually your full email address, used as the username.
- Password, your email account password or an app-specific password.

- Enable SSL/TLS for a secure connection.
- Save the IMAP settings. Incoming emails will begin syncing to your Plutio inbox.
How to set up outgoing email (SMTP)
- Enter the SMTP settings in the same configuration form:
- SMTP server, the hostname of your email provider's SMTP server (e.g.,
smtp.office365.com). - SMTP port, the connection port, typically 587 for TLS.
- Email address and password, usually the same credentials as IMAP.

- Enable SSL/TLS for the outgoing connection.
- Save the SMTP settings. Replies and new emails composed in your inbox will route through your SMTP server. Recipients see your own email address in the "from" field.
What IMAP/SMTP enables
Once both IMAP and SMTP are configured:
- Emails sync into Plutio conversations just like Gmail.
- You can send invoices, proposals, and contracts from your own email domain instead of Plutio's default address.
- All email activity is tracked in your workspace alongside your other communications.
IMAP/SMTP support means any email provider with standard mail protocols can connect to Plutio, not just Gmail.
