Task custom fields
Custom fields extend tasks with data that built-in fields don't cover. Each custom field has a type, a label, and optional configuration, and field values appear on the task detail page, in list view columns, on board cards, and in filter and sort options.
Available field types
11 field types are available for task custom fields:
- Text for free-text input like notes or references
- Link for clickable URLs to external resources
- Date for milestones or deadlines beyond the default due date
- Dropdown for single-select choices from a predefined list
- Multi-select for choosing multiple options from a predefined list
- Checkbox for on/off toggles
- Currency for monetary values with currency formatting
- Rating for star-based rating scales
- Contacts for references to team members or contacts in your workspace
- Slider for numeric values on a sliding scale
- Range for defining a minimum and maximum value pair
Where custom fields appear
Custom field values show up in multiple places. On the task detail page, custom fields sit alongside built-in fields like assignee, due date, and priority. In list view, custom fields can be added as table columns with inline editing, sorting, and grouping support. On board cards, custom field values can be toggled on to display key data without opening the task. Filters accept custom field values too, so narrowing a task list by a dropdown selection or a date range on a custom field takes one click.
Custom fields turn the task list into a flexible data view, where filtering, sorting, and grouping work on whatever data matters most to your workflow.
