Task delegation
Tasks can be assigned to any team member in your workspace, and reassigned at any time as priorities shift or workloads change. Every assignment and reassignment triggers a notification, so the person taking over the work knows immediately.
How to assign a task
- Open the task from a task board, list view, or project.
- Click the Assignee field on the task detail page. A dropdown shows all available team members.
- Select one or more assignees. Multiple people can be assigned to the same task when collaboration is needed (e.g., a design review or a joint deliverable).
- Assignees get notified. Each assignee receives an in-app notification, a push notification, and an email with a link to the task.
You can also assign tasks inline from list view or directly from a board card, without opening the full task detail page.
How to reassign a task
- Open the task and click the Assignee field.
- Change the assignee by selecting a different team member. The new assignee receives a notification with a link to the task.
- The previous assignee keeps access to the task, but the assignment indicator updates across all views.
Delegating to clients
Task assignment also works for clients who have portal access. A client assigned to a task sees that task when they log into your workspace, and receives the same notifications as a team member.
Task followers
Beyond assignees, task followers also receive updates when changes happen on the task. Followers stay informed about progress without being directly responsible for the work.
Cross-project assignment
Task assignment works across projects. A team member assigned to tasks in multiple projects sees all of their tasks in one global task list. Filtering the global task list by assignee pulls together work from across the entire workspace, making it straightforward to see one person's full workload regardless of which project each task belongs to.
